Honors Scholarships for Current TCC Students

This scholarship, for Honors Scholars only, waives tuition for up to 18 credit hours per fall or spring semester. Recipients must be Honors Scholars who are residents of Oklahoma and who have attempted no more than 95 credit hours. (Concurrently enrolled high school students are not eligible.)

This scholarship is awarded each year to high-achieving high school seniors entering TCC. TCC is allowed a certain number of institutional nominees. The number of nominees varies from year to year. The Academic Scholars Program was created and funded by the Oklahoma Legislature and is administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education as an incentive for students of high academic ability to attend higher education institutions in Oklahoma. The scholarship pays full tuition plus a generous stipend, and it covers eight semesters of higher education, provided the recipient remains enrolled full-time in an Oklahoma college or university and meets all other continuing eligibility requirements.

These scholarships are presented each year to select Honors Scholars.

There is no way to apply for the Foundation Honors Awards or the Comby Prize. Award recipients are nominated by the Honors faculty to recognize outstanding performance in Honors classes.

TCC offers many other merit- and/or need-based scholarships. Check Scholarship & Waivers for the most up-to-date information. Many scholarships have their own individual deadlines, requirements, and application procedures.

Another good place to look for all kinds of information about preparing for college and finding scholarships (not particularly Honors-related) is the website of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. The regents offer a number of helpful publications that can be ordered online.

Honors Scholarships for Transferring Students

TCC Honors Scholars may transfer to many other honors programs at four-year colleges and universities and become eligible for special financial awards. The Honors Office assists with transfer scholarship applications and provides general information about other opportunities in higher education.

The best source of information about transfer scholarships offered by your future university is the financial aid office of the four-year school you plan to attend.

TU offers a generous transfer scholarship to TCC Honors Scholar graduates - the TCC Honors Award. This renewable scholarship is available to any Honors Scholar who graduates from TCC's Honors Program with a cumulative, all-college GPA of at least 3.25. Transfer students may also apply for the Presidential Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship that is highly competitive and has an application deadline in January for the following academic year. The TCC Honors Award and the Presidential Scholarship can't be combined, but you should apply for both and accept the larger scholarship if you are selected for it. Contact TU for the latest information about these scholarships and other aid available there.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation's Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is a major national scholarship worth up to $40,000 per year and available only to community college students.

Applicants must be outstanding students with unmet financial needs. It is not necessary to be an Honors Scholar in order to apply, but the scholarship application asks whether the applicant is an Honors Scholar, and this is taken into consideration by the national panel that chooses the scholarship's recipients. Students must begin the application process early in the fall semester one year before they transfer to a four-year school. Get more information about the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

At TCC, the Honors Program Coordinator is the scholarship's faculty representative. Each fall, the Honors Program hosts informational meetings where interested students can receive information and ask questions about the scholarship and its application process.
